Direct Lithium Extraction is an innovative process used to extract lithium from brine resources. It employs advanced technologies such as ion exchange, adsorption, solvent extraction, or membranes to selectively extract lithium directly from brine. Standard Lithium has been operating DLE continuously for almost four years and have the only operating commercial scale DLE in North America. We are partnering with Aquatech to apply their Li-Pro™ Lithium Selective Sorption technology at our South West Arkansas project.
DLE extracts lithium from brine more efficiently and sustainably compared to traditional methods. The technology boasts a smaller land footprint compared to hard rock mining and evaporative processes, which are time intensive and consume large amounts of water. DLE more consistently and efficiently delivers high-purity lithium suitable to produce battery-grade lithium products.
Our partnership with Aquatech and use of their proprietary technology is the key to unlocking the vast potential of the Smackover and delivering against future domestic lithium demand.
