Project Overview

The South West Arkansas Project located in southern Arkansas near the Texas and Louisiana borders, is the flagship project of Smackover Lithium. The Project area encompasses approximately 30,000 acres of brine leases spanning Lafayette and Columbia counties, with the initial phase of project development focused on production from the Reynolds Brine Unit. The Reynolds Brine Unit encompasses 20,854 acres of mineral leases and was unanimously approved by the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission with no objections from any stakeholders or the local community. The Project is targeting an initial production of 22,500 metric tons per year of battery-quality lithium carbonate with the non-unitized leases in the area providing significant opportunity for future expansion. Construction of the project is expected to commence in 2026 with first commercial production targeted in 2029.

Development Plan

The project development will initially comprise of 4 well pads servicing a total of 12 brine supply wells and 10 brine injection wells along with the associated pipelines to deliver the fresh brine to a Central Processing Facility (CPF) and return the lithium depleted brine to the wellfield. The CPF will be located approximately 7 miles south of Lewisville and will extract lithium and manufacture battery quality lithium carbonate. The CPF will be one of the first Direct Lithium Extraction facilities in North America.

Environmental Assessment

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently concluded its review of the South West Arkansas Project under the National Environmental Policy Act. The DOE issued a Finding of No Significant Impact based on the Environmental Assessment prepared and did not impose any further mitigation measures for the Project. This outcome reflects the detailed Project plans which minimize environmental disturbance and align with Smackover Lithium’s commitment to responsible lithium production.
